The Aquaria

A unique nature experience! Starting with the shallow tidal basin you submerge during a walk along the aquaria deeper and deeper into the different habitats of our native marine fauna. There are 12 large aquaria in the Multimar Wattforum with a total volume of 150 cubic meters plus 17 special aquaria for presenting small animals. We wish you a pleasant stay!

The special aquaria

Our little-ones The smaller but no less fascinating species are introduced in our 17 special tanks. You can discover animal life, for instance, the cat shark.

Study the fascinating life cycle of the Moon jellyfish eye-to-eye. Be amazed by the sea horses St. Petra and Pelle while they swim side-by-side for mating.

The deep sea

The Moon jellyfish, beauty without heart or brain Jellyfish - just glibbery jelly on the beach? No! Be enchanted by the aesthetics of the Moon jellyfish (Aurelia).

By the way, the Moon jellyfish is harmless and not to be confused with the Lion's Mane jellyfish! Many more secrets are awaiting to be discovered by you in the large tanks.

Dark creatures like the eight-armed threaded octopus or the eel, permanently hidden in the sand, can only be seen after a second look.

The open ocean

The two-story tower basin is towering into the restaurant level.

Look into the gaping mouth of the eerie Wolf fish or just admire the beautifully blue shimmering lobster.

The blue mussel bed

Habitat for many. By use of an underwater camera you can get a little closer to the sea inhabitants.

Be amazed by the sticky threads (byssus) by means of which blue mussels attach themselves to other blue mussels.

Observe herring searching for plankton or starfish trying to open a blue mussel.

Surf zone

Life in harsh conditions... Get active - at the basin „surf zone“ you can generate waves yourself and observe how starfish, sea snails, sea urchins and crabs react to these water movements.

Tidal zone

Low and high tides in hourly rhythm In the basin „tidal area“ low and high tides are simulated in order to demonstrate the responses of animals to different water levels in nature: Buried at low tide and active during high tide.
